Hands up if you love bumble bee paper craft for kids!

As a dedicated crafter, I’ve always had a soft spot for these buzzing pollinators from the genus Bombus.

Their round, hairy bodies and stripes make them the perfect canvas for adorable humble-bee creations.

Over the years, I’ve guided countless little ones in bringing these chubby buzzing buddies to life – from paper bees, clay bees, paper plate bees to bulb-cover bees.

But today, we’re taking it up a notch with a delightfully plump paper craft that’s sure to have your kiddos buzzing with excitement.

Imagine their wide grins as they snip and stick, assembling their very own round bee pal.

The sense of accomplishment they’ll feel when this hairy, chubby pollinator takes shape before their eyes, it’s a memory that’ll last a lifetime.

In this article, I have made a structure of a chubby Bumblebee crafted on paper, and have shared the instructions along with supporting images and step by step instructions.

Step 1: Preparing The Chubby Bee Template

I’ve always enjoyed creating unique craft structures, and I’m excited to share that the template for this Chubby Bumblebee is available for free on our blog.

I usually sketch my own templates, both offline and online, aiming to keep each design unique and simple enough for kids to follow.

When I draw them by hand, I start with a pencil to get the outlines just right, and then I go over them with a black marker for clarity.

While you’re welcome to draw and customize your own shapes, I’ve got the Chubby Bee template ready for you to use.

I’ve uploaded both blank and colored versions of the template.

If you’re planning this craft for a group of kids, just print multiple copies of the colorful template with a few clicks, and you’re ready to start cutting out the shapes (This setup makes it super easy to get everyone involved).

Step 2: Cutting Chubby Bumble Bee Shapes

After you’ve downloaded and printed your chosen template, it’s time to cut out the Chubby Bee shapes.

Carefully cut along the lines to ensure a smooth and even structure for your paper bumble bee.

Step 3: Assembling the Chubby Bee

With the cutouts ready, it’s time to put together our Chubby Bee.

I started by using the bee’s main body as the base for assembly.

Next, I carefully attached the black stripes to the bee’s body, one at a time.

Finally, I affixed the tail cutout to the back of the bee’s structure, as shown in image 3.2 above.

Step 4: Assemble the Face with Chubby Body

Now that the lower body structure is assembled, it’s time to add the bee’s face.

I carefully positioned the face above the chubby body structure, ensuring it complements the overall look.

The result is a delightfully bulky and heavy appearance, just as I wanted, as depicted in image 4.2 above.

Step 5: Fixing the Hardworking Wings

While it might pose a challenge for our chubby bumble bee to take flight with such tiny wings, I had to attach them to its body.

Now, our bee appears to be struggling a bit to lift her chubby body with those petite wings.

Perhaps she could benefit from a little diet plan! But let’s not take it too seriously, this playful touch adds to the adorable charm of our creation.

After all, it’s all about having fun, and the end result is an undeniably amazing and utterly adorable bee.
