With Holi around the corner, everyone’s getting ready to dive into the fun and colors.
While many opt for store-bought water guns to fill balloons with water, why not try a DIY approach this holi? It’s not just a blast to do but also saves money.
I tried this out myself and turned an old glue bottle into my own water gun.

It’s not just about saving money, it’s about making the celebration unique. Plus, this DIY project also works great for filling up water balloons.
Let me show you how to do it, step by step and get your glue bottle ready to fill up the balloons.
Step 1: Unwrap the Glue Bottle

First, I peeled off the wrapper from my empty glue bottle.
I started at one edge and carefully pulled it away from the bottle until it was completely removed.
Step 2: Wipe the bottle Thoroughly

Next, I wiped the bottle’s surface with a damp cloth to get rid of any stickiness (I made sure to clean it thoroughly).
Post which, I dried it off with a clean, dry cloth.
Step 3: Remove Glue remains from the tip

I noticed the tip had some leftover glue, which could get sticky with water.
So, I made sure to clean it off really well.
To make sure everything was totally clean after scrubbing, I used a damp towel first, followed by a dry one.
Step 4: Clear the Release point

I used a thin stick to clear the hole where the glue comes out (sometimes, it gets blocked by dried glue).
So, after clearing it, I rinsed the bottle once more.
Before filling the water balloons, I tested the flow of water by squeezing the bottle. Since the pressure was too low, I made the hole on the tip a bit bigger.
Step 5: Rinse the bottle

To clean the inside, I rinsed the glue bottle with clean water.
First, I filled it with water and let it sit for a while to loosen any glue stuck inside. Then, I rinsed it a few times until the water flowed freely.
Step 6: Uses of the DIY water gun

- To fill water balloons: You can easily fill water balloons with this DIY Balloon water filler. Make sure to fill the water gun with full capacity before filling the water balloons.
- To Spray water or colorful water: You can fill this DIY water gun and spray water up to a good distance.
How many water balloons can you fill in one go?
With the smaller tube, I can fill at least two small water balloons in one go.
If you have a slightly larger tube, you could potentially fill more.
