Ever glanced at an empty butter container and thought, “Trash”? Think again!
I transformed one such container, along with a slice of PVC pipe, into a chic, multipurpose DIY Toothbrush Holder that’s both practical and stylish.

If you’re curious about how a simple DIY project can revamp your bathroom essentials, you’re in the right place.
I’ve laid out all the steps, complete with images, to guide you through creating your very own toothbrush holder.
Let’s take a quick look at the list of things that you will need to come up with a similar type of toothbrush holder followed by the step-by-step instructions.
Step 1: Things I’ve Used For This DIY Toothbrush Holder

- Butter Container: I’ve used a butter container which was empty and was about to be put in the trash. You don’t necessarily need a butter container, if you have a container that is similar in size or a bit larger that should also do the trick.
- Black PVC Pipe: The pipe used in this particular project is a leftover piece from a recent electrical work done at home. It is typically used to cover the running electrical wires.
- Mini Saw: To cut the pipes as per required sizes I’ve used a mini saw which is ideal for cutting wood.
- Hot Glue Gun or All Purpose Adhesive: I have used a hot glue gun to stick the pipes to the edges of the plastic container. However, you can use any strong glue suitable for plastic objects.
To craft your own DIY multipurpose toothbrush holder, these are the only items you’ll need. Once you have these items the remaining steps are pretty straightforward, let’s look at the steps.
Step 2: Unwrap the Container’s Cover

I used an empty butter container that I had washed thoroughly before beginning.
It was a strong and durable plastic container that seemed too good to throw away.
So, I removed the branding cover wrapped around the plastic container. Then, I wiped the outer surface with a dry cloth because it was a bit greasy.
Step 3: Measure and cut the PVC pipe

After covering the container with the PVC pipe, I measured the required cutting size and selected a length that was somewhat above the base for a somewhat shorter fit.
Then, with a mini saw, I carefully cut the pipe to the required length.
Step 4: Cut four pieces (PVC Pipes)

I needed four pieces of pipe to attach around the container.
So, I used the first piece that I had cut as a guide (I aligned and cut three more pieces of similar size).
This way, I obtained the four pieces of pipe I had wanted.
Step 5: Sticking the PVC Pipes

To attach the pipes to the plastic container, you can either use a strong multipurpose glue or a hot glue gun.
In this case, I opted for the hot glue gun and began by sticking one of the pipes to the container, applying the hot glue in a straight line for systematic alignment.
Next, I placed the pipe on the glued surface and held it there for a while to ensure it adhered firmly.
Step 6: Sticking the remaining pipes

Similarly, I applied glue on the other three sides of the container to attach the pipes.
I had to patiently follow the steps and allow each to dry evenly before adding the next piece, ensuring they were all firmly stuck.
Finally, everything was securely in place and ready for use.
However, I decided to let it sit idle for about 10 minutes before using it.
If you look at the image below, you’ll see I placed a few toothbrushes and a tongue cleaner into the slots created with the PVC pipes, and inside the plastic container, I stored toothpaste and other bathroom essentials.

It’s strong, waterproof, durable, and will last for years to come.

Final Thoughts
Technically, this project creatively uses only two household items i.e. an empty butter container and a piece of PVC pipe to create a unique toothbrush holder that is durable and waterproof.
Just make sure to use waterproof items for such types of projects, example: items made of plastic.
Additionally, I have also shared a complete video tutorial of the DIY multipurpose toothbrush holder for your reference.
