Step 1: Paper Duckling Template

Step 1 - Paper Duckling Template

Before we get started with our adorable paper ducklings, we’ll need the shapes cut out.

To make this process easier, I sketched the basic shapes with a pencil first.

Then, I went over them with a dark marker pen to create a clean and precise template.

If you’re feeling creative, feel free to grab some paper and a pencil and try drawing the shapes yourself.

But, if you’d like to save some time, I’ve created a handy template you can download for free from our website.

That way, you can jump right into the fun part i.e. assembling your duckling family.

Step 2: Choose your colors for the Shapes

Step 2 - Choose your colors for the Shapes

For this craft, I used some colorful paper that really brings the ducklings to life.

I went with shades of yellow for the body, brown for the beak, creamy white for the tummy, and a pop of red for the beak.

But feel free to get creative and choose your own color palette.

The brighter and bolder, the happier the duckling will look.

Step 3: Aligning the Final Shapes

Step 3 - Aligning the Final Shapes

See those adorable shapes in the picture above? I just whipped them out of colorful paper.

Now, the most exciting part i.e. assembling our paper duckling.

Step 4: Assembling the head and Body

Step 4 - Assembling the head and Body

First, I placed the body cutout as the base for the paper duckling.

Then, I carefully lined up the head cutout on the body and stuck them together.

Post that, I attached the feather-like shape to the body, just like you see in image 4.3 above.

These steps put together the main parts of our duckling.

Now, in the following steps, we’ll add the smaller details to complete our little friend.

Step 5: Fixing the tiny wings

Step 5 - Fixing the tiny wings

For the wings, I used pops of yellow and brown paper to create these tiny flippers.

I carefully attached them to the sides of the duckling’s body, they look so perfect and add a nice bit of contrast.

Now, let’s move on to the next step that is giving our duckling some personality with its facial features.

Step 6: Quacky Mouth and the Eyes

Step 6 - Quacky Mouth and the Eyes

To bring our duckling to life, I added its signature quacky mouth and big, sparkly eyes.

First, I cut out a mouth shape from red paper and used a colored pencil to add details for the lips (or beak) and tongue. It really made a difference!

Then, I glued the ducklings eyes. I used white paper for the base and a marker to draw the pupils.

Those details really make the duckling pop, they look amazing.

Step 7: Assembling the tiny legs

Step 7 - Assembling the tiny legs

Finally, for the finishing touch, I added the duckling’s little legs.

I used a muddy yellow paper to cut out the tiny shapes and glued them to the bottom of its body, just like you see in the picture.

Now, isn’t she adorable? All ready to waddle around and quack with her new friends.
