With my easy-to-use handmade printable template (and a little help from you!), your kids will be bleating with joy in no time.
So, grab your scissors, glue, and some creativity, and let’s get ready to craft a fantastic paper goat!
Step 1: Making the Paper Goat Template
First, I created the template by figuring out the necessary shapes for the paper goat craft.
I sketched the outlines of these shapes with a pencil, which allowed me to easily make any necessary adjustments.
Then, I highlighted the final shapes using a dark marker pen to complete the template.
Step 2: Download/Print the Template
I created the paper goat template, which is now available for you on my blog here.
As you can see in the image above, this is how the paper goat template appears.
You have the option to download and print the template for this specific craft project.
This will save you time and energy that you would otherwise spend drawing the template yourself.
Plus, using the ready template ensures that you’ll achieve the perfect shape for your paper goat once you assemble the cutouts.
Step 3: Choose your colors for Cutout
To cut the shapes, I used various colored paper sheets.
You have the freedom to select your preferred colors, and once you make your decision, simply cut the shapes according to the template.
Step 4: Fixing the facial Features
I started by cutting out the goat’s facial structure, then proceeded to cut its facial features.
Next, I glued the cutout containing its mouth and nose.
I outlined the goat’s eyes, mouth, and nose using a colored pencil.
You could either follow these steps or unleash your own creativity to accomplish the task.
Step 5: Sticking the ears
To create the ears, I cut out the shape from a light-colored paper and shaded them using pink paper.
Although in the images above, I positioned the ears above the facial structure, you would need to attach them from the back.
Congratulations on reaching this step! The primary components of the face have now been successfully put together.
Step 6: Sticking the horns
To cut the horn shapes I’ve used a muddy yellow paper sheet.
Next, I highlighted the horn shapes using a brown pencil.
You can refer to the image above where the brown stripes over the horn are made using a brown color pencil.
Finally, I will stick them from behind the facial structure of the goat.
Step 7: Attaching the fur and the beard
An adorable paper goat will look incomplete without fur on the head and a beard below the chin.
Hence, I cut and stick the cutouts from the template over the facial structure of the goat.
The facial structure of the paper goat now looks complete.
Let’s take a look at the assembly of the remaining body parts of our paper goat in the below step.
Step 8: Sticking the Body, Legs, and Tail
Now, we’ve reached the final steps of the paper goat craft project.
I started by attaching the goat’s body to the facial structure, ensuring its edges were glued to the back of the face.
Then, I proceeded to attach the legs to the body, placing two legs in the front and two at the back.
To create the toes (hoof), you could either accentuate them using a dark pen or cut out the shape from a black paper sheet.
For this project I have used a black color sheet to cut the toe shapes and stuck them to its feet.
Okay, the legs are now attached to the goat’s body, and it’s time to put together the tail.
Since goats typically have small tails, I designed the cutout shape accordingly and glued it to the back of the body followed by allowing it to dry.
Finally, the adorable and playful paper goat is ready and here’s how it looks:
