So gather your materials, and let’s bring this unique animal craft to life by using simple materials like construction paper, scissors, glue and a free printable template.

Let’s take a quick look at the first step i.e., crafting the vulture template.

Step 1: Making The Paper Vulture Template

Step 1 - Making The Paper Vulture Template

Before we dive into making our paper vulture craft for kids, let me walk you through how I created the template.

I started by sketching a unique vulture outline with a pencil, as you can see in the image number 1.1 above.

Then, I traced the lines with a black marker and filled in the colors to match a typical vulture. Now, let’s move on to the next step to get your vulture template ready.

Step 2: Download The Template OR Make Your Own Customization

Step 2 - Download The Template OR Make Your Own Customization

The images above show the vulture template I’ve made available on my blog.

It includes all the parts you need to print, cut, and assemble, which I’ll guide you through step-by-step (in the subsequent steps below).

If you prefer to add your own colors, you can use the blank template and customize it as you like.

For those who want to jump right into the craft, there’s a pre-colored template ready to go (You can download it here).

Step 3: Cutting the Shapes

Step 3 - Cutting the Shapes

I chose the colorful vulture template and printed it on A4-sized paper.

Then, I’ll carefully cut out the shapes with scissors, just like you see in the image above (Be sure to cut precisely to achieve the best results or else the body shapes won’t look consistent).

Step 4: The Assembling Process

Step 4 - The Assembling Process

With the cutouts ready, it was time to align the shapes and assemble the paper vulture.

I started by assembling the vulture’s head, beak, and the feather shape around its neck. Next, I attached the wings, as seen in the image 4.1 above.

Step 5: Fixing The Head & Main Body

Step 5 - Fixing The Head & Main Body

Next, I fixed the head and main body of the vulture together, aligning the head with the top front of the lower body.

I made sure to tilt the head slightly to the right for a more realistic look.

Step 6: Fix the Wings, Tail, and Legs

Step 6 - Fix the Wings, Tail, and Legs

In the final step of the paper vulture craft, I attached the wings, tail, and claws.

I started by fixing the large wings to its sides, giving the impression that the vulture was ready to take off.

Next, I added the tail feathers to the back, slightly below the body.

Finally, I assembled the legs with their sharp, strong claws. The image below shows the completed structure of the paper vulture craft.

Facts about Vultures (Use this as a learning opportunity for KIDS)

  • One of the most amazing facts about vultures is their incredible sense of smell as they can detect the scent of a dead animal from over a mile away.
  • These species have a unique way to cool themselves in hot and humid climatic conditions.
  • To keep their body cool they urinate on their legs, which then evaporates and cools their body. This specific process is also known as urohydrosis which allows vultures to regulate their body temperature and stay cool while soaring through the sky.
  • Vultures also have the ability to feed on carrion without getting sick and it’s because their stomach contains highly acidic digestive juices which can kill harmful bacteria. It allows them to consume decaying meat without any negative effects on their health.
  • As per studies, they have been found to have excellent immune systems and they have a stronger resistance to diseases such as anthrax and cholera compared to other animals.
  • Overall, these amazing creatures play a crucial role in cleaning up carcasses and preventing the spread of disease.
