So, gather your basic crafting supplies, and let’s dive into making this engaging paper wolf craft for kids together.

Step 1: The Making of Paper Wolf Template

Step 1 - The Making of Paper Wolf Template

Before we dive in, let me guide you through creating the template for the Howling Wolf structure.

Here’s how I did it: First, I sketched out the outlines for the Howling Wolf shapes to make cutouts.

After perfecting the shapes, I used a black marker to trace each outline, which helped form the ideal Howling Wolf structure.

While you’re welcome to draw the shapes yourself to personalize your template, don’t worry if you’d rather skip this step.

I’ve conveniently made this fantastic template available in two versions for you (more information in step 2).

Step 2: Downloading The Howling Wolf Template

Step 2 - Downloading The Howling Wolf Template

I’ve uploaded the paper wolf templates on my blog, and you can see what they look like in the image above.

There are two versions available i.e. one features blank outlines of the wolf structures for those who enjoy customizing, and the other is pre-filled with colors, simplifying the task so you can just print and cut out the shapes.

If you prefer to personalize your paper wolf, use the template with blank outlines and color them as you like.

Whichever option suits your needs, you can easily download and print the template with just a few clicks, and then move on to the essential steps of cutting and assembling the Howling Wolf structure.

If you’re working with a group of children on this craft project, feel free to print multiple copies of the colorful template for the kids to enjoy.

Step 3: Cutting the Wolf’s Structure Shapes

Step 3 - Cutting the Wolf's Structure Shapes

I used the colorful template to cut out the shapes of the paper wolf, as shown in image 3.2 above.

Alternatively, you can use the blank template to cut shapes from colorful paper sheets.

Just ensure you cut the shapes accurately to assemble the wolf’s structure with precision.

Step 4: The Assembling of the Shapes

Step 4 - The Assembling of the Shapes

Once the cutouts were prepared, I began assembling the wolf’s structure with precision.

I started with the main body of the wolf as the base and attached the lower jaw to complete its face.

Next, I fixed the cutout of the lower face onto the main body, followed by attaching the small black piece that represents the nose.

Finally, I used a black marker to draw a small, curved line to represent the wolf’s closed eye.

Typically, wolves close their eyes and tilt their heads upwards when they howl loudly.

Step 5: Assembling the Bushy Hair

Step 5 - Assembling the Bushy Hair

Wolves usually boast long, bushy hair that extends from their lower face down to their neck and body.

I created individual cutouts to represent this bushy hair, layering them one behind the other.

Then, I attached these shapes below the wolf’s face, covering its neck. Lastly, I affixed the paper wolf’s ear into position.

Step 6: Assembling the Wolf’s Legs

Step 6 - Assembling the Wolf's Legs

I have three leg shapes to attach to the wolf’s body, so I began by aligning them to determine their positions.

Once sorted, I affixed the front leg from behind the structure, followed by attaching the back legs where the last one overlaps the wolf’s body.

The cutouts representing the wolf’s legs appear to be securely in place.

Step 7: Fixing the Tail

We’ve reached the final step of assembling the paper wolf i.e. its tail.

I crafted the tail shape by dividing it into two parts to depict the different shades.

The top part of the tail features a dark shade, while the bottom part reflects a brighter color, resembling the furry tail end.

I affixed the white portion over the black cutout and then attached the final figure from behind the wolf’s structure.

With this, the paper howling wolf is now fully assembled and complete, as shown in the image below.
