Step 1: Downloading The Printable Grasshopper Craft Template

Step 1 - Downloading The Printable Grasshopper Craft Template

Take a look at the image above for a sneak peek at the paper grasshopper template.

I’ve provided the template in two versions i.e. one with blank outlines, allowing you to add your own colors and personalize the grasshopper design.

The second grasshopper template comes pre-filled with colors, making it even easier for you to download, print, and assemble.

Usually, I craft custom structures mirroring characters relevant to the topic at hand.

While you’re welcome to create your own template, it’s entirely optional since my template is ready for your activity (Download it here).

Step 2: Cutting the Shapes

Step 2 - Cutting the Shapes

I’ve utilized the pre-filled color template of the grasshopper for cutting.

You can do the same by printing the template and carefully cutting out the shapes to create a well-defined grasshopper structure.

Step 3: Assembling the Grasshopper

Step 3 - Assembling the Grasshopper

Now that I have the cutouts ready, it’s time to assemble the paper grasshopper with precision.

I started by aligning the antennas and the neck of the grasshopper with its facial structure.

Then, I carefully applied glue to their edges and secured the shapes behind the grasshopper’s face.

Step 4: Assembling the Grasshoppers Body and Wings

Step 4 - Assembling the Grasshoppers Body and Wings

I proceeded to attach the main body and wings of the grasshopper to its head structure.

First, I affixed the light green oval-shaped wing onto the body shape of the grasshopper.

Then, aligning it from behind, I glued the body and front wing to its neck.

Finally, I attached the dark green oval-shaped second wing behind the paper grasshopper’s structure.

Step 5: Fixing the Grasshopper’s Legs

Step 5 - Fixing the Grasshopper’s Legs

We’ve reached the final step of the paper grasshopper craft, which involves attaching its legs.

For a distinctive touch, I’ve fashioned the back legs with shoes, giving the impression that the grasshopper is in a hopping position.

First, I glued one of the back legs to the front of the structure, gently tucking it beneath the front wing.

Then, aligning them to simulate a flying or hopping stance, I affixed the other leg from behind the structure.

Attention to such details truly brings the craft to life.

To complete the activity, I attached the four tiny legs to the grasshopper’s body.

Two of these legs were placed below the neck, while the remaining two were positioned beneath its lower body. And with that, our paper craft for the day is complete.
