Ever wondered how to turn a boring afternoon into a blooming adventure? Look no further!
I’m about to share a delightful paper plate daisy flower craft for kids that’s sure to brighten any day.
To be honest, in just 12 minutes, you and your little ones can transform ordinary paper plates into a stunning daisy that’ll have everyone asking, “Is that really made from plates?”
This craft isn’t just fun, it’s a sneaky way to nurture creativity, improve fine motor skills, and even sneak in a mini-lesson on flower anatomy.
Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or craft enthusiast, get ready to dive into a world where everyday items become extraordinary art.
But first, let’s take a quick look into the list of items required to make a paper plate daisy flower.
Editor’s Note: I also created two other versions of paper flowers, which are of similar difficulty. You can check them out below:
Step 1: Things You’ll Need To Make Paper Plate Daisy Flower
- Paper Plates: You will need two paper plates of different sizes to make the Daisy Flower structure.
- Craft Papers: I have used green and yellow craft papers for the stem, leaves, and the seedpod.
- Cardboard: I have used a strip of cardboard sheet as the base of the stem, however you can use a hard paper too. Using a hard paper will ensure a strong stem.
- Scissor: To shape the paper plates and cut the craft papers you’ll need a scissor.
- Glue: To stick the craft papers and the paper plate shapes together you will need a multipurpose glue.
Estimated Time taken to Make the paper plate Daisy Flower: It took 12 minutes for me to make the paper plate Daisy Flower Craft.
Step 2: Cutting the Paper Plates
In this project, the most crucial step is properly shaping the paper plates.
You’ll need to cut the edges of the plates to resemble the petals of a daisy flower.
When shaping the smaller paper plate freehand, my results weren’t as precise as I hoped.
For the larger paper plate, I marked points on opposite sides of the edges and then cut them evenly, achieving much better accuracy.
Step 3: Cutting the Craft Papers
With the paper plate structures ready, it’s time to cut the circle shapes for the daisy flower’s seedpod.
I used a yellow paper sheet to create two circles, one slightly larger than the other.
Then, I trimmed the edges of the yellow circles as shown in image 3.2 above.
Step 4: Cutting the Leaf Shapes
It was time to craft the stem and leaves of the daisy flower.
I used a green sheet of paper to cut out the leaf shapes, as shown in image 4.2 above.
I made small cuts along the edges of the paper leaves to give them a rough and realistic look.
Next, I adhered the green paper to a sturdy paper strip and then covered it with more green paper to create the daisy flower’s stem.
Step 5: Assembling the Daisy Flower
With all the shapes prepared, it was time to assemble the paper plate daisy flower.
First, I aligned the small paper plate over the large one and adhered them together with multipurpose glue.
Next, I applied glue to the center of the larger plate and attached the large yellow circle. Finally, I fixed the small yellow circle on top of the large one.
Step 6: Assembling the Leaves and Stem
We have finally reached the last step of the paper plate daisy flower project i.e. assembling the stem and leaves.
I slightly curved the stem shape from the sides using scissors, as shown in the final image above.
Next, I attached the stem to the back of the paper plate and aligned the leaf shapes.
Once I found the proper positions for the leaves, I stuck them to the stem from behind.
If you look at the final image of the paper plate daisy flower, you’ll see that I trimmed the stem shape from the sides.
It looks so amazing to the eyes so I couldn’t resist myself from mounting it on the wall of my living room.
