Step 1: Things You’ll Need For Paper Sunflower Craft

- Colorful Craft Papers: You can use basic craft papers like origami paper or cardstock for the sunflower petals and leaves. I used green, yellow, and maroon sheets to create my paper sunflower.
- Cardboard: I have used a piece of cardboard sheet to use it as the circular base which will be surrounded by the flower petals.
- Scissor: In this activity you can use a standard craft scissor which will be ideal to cut paper sheets and the cardboard.
- Glue: If you want to make a sturdy paper flower make sure to use slightly strong adhesive such as the multipurpose glue.
- Bamboo stick: You can use a bamboo stick or something similar as the stem of the sunflower.
Estimated Time To Make Paper Sunflower Craft: It took 10 minutes for me to complete the paper sunflower craft structure.
Step 2: Preparing the Disc Florets/Seedpod

I started by preparing the base of the paper sunflower craft, also known as the disc floret or seedpod.
It’s the central part of the flower, encircled by petals, and where the sunflower seeds are located.
I used a cardboard sheet, cut into a circle shape, and stuck a maroon paper sheet over it, as shown in image 2.2 above.
Step 3: Cutting the Petal Shapes

It was time to cut the petal shapes for the paper sunflower, using the yellow paper sheet.
I folded the paper multiple times and cut long oval shapes with two pointed edges on opposite sides.
I made sure to cut enough petal shapes to surround the circular cardboard.
Cutting extra petals was fine to ensure there were enough, rather than risking having too few.
Step 4: Preparing the Paper Leaves

Now that the petals were ready, I proceeded to cut the shapes of the sunflower leaves.
I cut two leaf shapes from a green paper sheet using freehand cutting, allowing for multiple leaves as desired.
I slightly roughened the edges of the leaves to mimic real sunflower leaves.
Step 5: Assembling the Paper Sunflower

I finished all the cutting and obtained the necessary shapes for assembly.
Next, I took the round cardboard shape and began arranging the paper petals for the sunflower craft.
I applied glue to the back of the round cardboard and adhered some of the petals (refer to the above image).
I continued aligning and attaching the paper petal shapes until the round cardboard was completely surrounded by them.
Step 6: Assembling the Leaves and Stem

In image 6.1 above, you can see that I evenly adhered all the paper petals around the cardboard base.
Next, I took a thin bamboo stick and used it as the stem along with the green paper leaves.
I first aligned and secured the thin stick, then attached the green paper leaves beneath the sunflower.

If you look at the final image above, you’ll see that it looks beautiful and makes an excellent fit as a decor piece which can be mounted anywhere in the living space.
