With a few simple crafting supplies, I’ve put together something charming that can adorn your space or become a heartfelt present.

This origami craft project is perfect for adding that personal touch to your Valentine’s celebration.

You’ll be surprised how these simple elements transform into something stunning.

Without wasting any time let’s dive right into the materials you’ll need to bring this lovely decor to life.

Things You’ll Need

It’s surprisingly made using a few craft items, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Red Origami Paper: I’ve used multiple red Origami sheets to craft the paper roses.
  • Cardboard: Used to craft a ring like circular cutout as the base of the final product.
  • Scissor: To cut the marked elements of the required craft items.
  • Glue: I’ve used glue to stick the paper roses.
  • Pencil and Rounder: I’ve used them to draw a circle over the limited and required spaces.

Once you have all the craft supplies ready, the following steps are pretty much straightforward (let’s take a quick look at it).

Step 1: Folding and cutting

Step 1 - Folding and cutting

For this DIY project, I started with a sheet of red card paper to create beautiful red roses.

First, I folded the paper in half to get the perfect size.

Then, I carefully cut it into two pieces.

You might prefer using scissors for this step, which works just as well.

Step 2: Additional folds for Circle

Step 2 - Additional folds for Circle

To create the roses, I needed round cut-outs from the red paper.

Following the steps shown in images 2.1 and 2.2, I folded the paper twice, making sure each fold was crisp and flat.

Next, I used a compass to draw a perfect circle on the folded sheet.

Feel free to use whatever you have on hand that can draw a circle if a compass isn’t available.

Step 3: Cutting the circles

Step 3 - Cutting the circles

Next, I cut out the circle with scissors, and thanks to the folds, ended up with four circles.

To fill the wreath with roses, you’ll need several of these, but let’s start by making one rose.

To see how it’s done, follow the steps listed below.

Step 4: Cut to get the curl

Step 4 - Cut to get the curl

Next, I cut each circle from its outer edge, spiraling right towards the center, creating a curling effect.

For a clearer idea of how it’s done, you can check out the images I’ve provided. I made sure all of them were cut in this same manner.

Step 5: Rolling the curls

Step 5 - Rolling the curls

To shape these cutouts into roses, you’ll need to roll them carefully.

I began with the outer edge, using a pin to start the roll.

After rolling a bit with the pin, I switched to using my fingers for more control.

By the time I followed this process, as shown in image 5.5, it nearly looked like a rose.

Step 6: Forming Paper Roses

Step 6 - Forming Paper Roses

Ensure you craft enough paper roses to cover the entire cardboard cutout.

This step might take a while, but trust me, it’s what makes the project stand out.

You’ll need to repeat the steps from 1 to 6 to create multiple roses.

Once you’ve finished making the roses, you’re halfway there.

For my project, I made 50 roses and ended up using 46 to fill the cardboard cutout completely.

Step 7: Ring Shape Cardboard

Step 7 - Ring Shape Cardboard

For the base of the roses, I used a sheet of cardboard, cutting it into a ring shape, just like you see in image 7.1.

Then, I moved on to gluing and sticking the roses onto the cardboard cutout.

Step 8: Pasting The Roses On Ring Shape Cardboard

Step 8 - Pasting The Roses On Ring Shape Cardboard

Finally, I attached the paper roses to the cardboard ring, and the result was visually stunning.

Crafting each rose individually and then gluing them took the most time.

But seeing the beautiful outcome made it all worthwhile.

Step 9: Sticking the Letters “LOVE”

Step 9 - Sticking the Letters LOVE

I opted for glittery self-adhesive craft paper for the letters, cutting them out meticulously to ensure they were perfectly aligned.

Once they were all in place, my project was complete and the final product would look something like this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of paper if I don’t have origami paper?

Absolutely! While origami paper is ideal for its foldability and color variety, any sturdy colored paper can work. Just ensure it’s not too thick to roll or too thin to hold shape.

What’s the best way to attach the roses to the cardboard?

Glue works best for securing the roses to the cardboard. Apply a generous amount to the base of each rose and press firmly onto the cardboard cutout and most importantly allow enough drying time for a strong hold.

How long does it take to complete the wreath?

The project can be completed in about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your crafting speed and the number of roses you decide to make. Remember, the process is as enjoyable as seeing the final product, so don’t rush, enjoy the craft.

How do I ensure the roses are evenly spaced on the wreath?

A good tip is to first lay out the roses on the cardboard ring without gluing them, adjusting their positions until you’re satisfied with the arrangement. This way, you can ensure even spacing before making anything permanent.

Is it possible to use this technique to make decorations for other occasions?

Absolutely! The beauty of this craft technique is its versatility. By changing the color scheme and shape of the base, you can adapt this project for nearly any occasion, such as Christmas, Easter, or birthdays.
